Simply put, St. Luke reflects the South Cobb community. We are racially diverse and our music in worship reflects the different traditions--Traditional hymns, modern praise music, gospel, contemporary gospel, southern gospel, jazz, and even a little classical. We have got it all!
For Several years previous to 1961, it was evident that a church should be established at Mableton, Georgia. In the spring of 1961 an option on five acres of land near the intersection of Brookwood Road and Clay Road was taken. Mr. R.F. Daniel was the seller and the Thousand Club and money from the Expansion Day offering helped to pay the full amount. The church began with thirteen members, six acres of land, and a pastor named Maurice Moore. The Church grew rapidly the first few weeks and on December 10, Claude Addison became the first member recieved on profession of faith. The congregation at the suggestion of Dr. Lester Rumble, adopted the name of St. Luke to identify their Christain fellowship.
To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world through proclamation of the Word, through loving God, and loving our neighbor as ourselves.
